Nompumelelo, known to many on social media and in the culinary industry simply as Chef Lelo developed an early love for Culinary Arts but found herself in the world of corporate for nearly 10 years before finding her way back to her first love.
She has always been a Chef at heart, however formally getting into the Culinary Arts happened in her later years as she decided to pursue her passion before turning 30. She studied through one of the most prestigious schools in the country, Prue Leith Chefs Academy where she graduated with a Grande Diploma in Culinary Arts and Winery. She went on to do her apprenticeship through the prestigious Four Seasons Hotel working under Chef Keith Frisley, where she was part of the team catering for many high-profile guests such as Pharrell Williams. Grace Mugabe, Julius Malema, Bonang Matheba to name but a few.
Lelo started out as a Sous Chef at Lesdachef Culinary Solutions with Chef Lesego Semenya as the Head Chef. In her time with Lesdachef Culinary Solutions she was a part of a few amazing campaigns with Woolworths, Blue Ribbon, Bisquit Cognac and the Department of Arts and Culture where she got the opportunity to cook at a Gala Dinner in Russia representing South Africa. Currently she is developing her own brand as Chef Lelo working as a private Chef and offering cooking classes while also serving as a strategic consultant to restaurants on menu designs, kitchen layouts and chef staffing solutions. Lelo’s well rounded experience and passion for the culinary arts make her an innovative Chef who is always ready to take on new culinary adventures.
